Toronto 2016

Toronto 2016

May 25, 2016 to May 28, 2016

The Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards (CAREB-ACCER) 2016 National Conference & AGM were held at the Intercontinental Toronto Centre Toronto, Ontario.

A look back at the 2016 National CAREB-ACCER Conference

Thank you to all the delegates and speakers at the 2016 CAREB-ACCER National Conference in Toronto for making the conference a great success! This year we gathered 286 delegates, with a necessary cap to adhere to the maximum capacity for meeting room space. As in previous years, the 2016 conference was preceded by a day of professional development workshops for REB members and administrators with 114 delegates participating in these workshops. CAREB-ACCER was also pleased to partner with the Canadian Bioethics Society for a special joint conference opening reception featuring a talk by André Picard, Public Health Reporter with the Globe & Mail.

The Conference Planning Committee worked hard to make attending the conference a great experience. A highlight of this year’s event was the Network Café consisting of informal, topic-based, group sessions that brought delegates together to network and discuss common issues. The Conference Planning Committee is looking into ways to make these sessions even better in 2017, including putting in place recommendations to have more structured sessions. We also continue to work towards making the conference website more intuitive and user-friendly.

CAREB-ACCER is looking forward to the 2017 National Conference and AGM taking place at the Halifax Marriott in Nova Scotia, on April 28-29. Pre-conference workshops will be held on April 27. More information to come soon. If you have suggestions or would like to help out at the conference please email us at registration@careb-accer.org.
