Letter to PRE Recommending that REB Administrators be Allowed to hold REB Membership

Dear CAREB Members,

For those of you who didn't attend Susan Zimmerman's PRE update on April 30 at the CAREB National Conference, we were informed that PRE decided that REB administrators could not hold membership on REBs, and could not conduct delegated reviews. I took this information to the Research Ethics Policy and Advisory Committee at U of T. We decided that a letter should be written outlining the importance of membership to U of T's REB system and the potential implications to U of T and other research institutions if this decision is implemented.

I have since been informed that Susan is bringing back a potential compromise to PRE, which may be good news. In any case, I am attaching the letter, for anyone who wishes to see it.
