Pilot for Streamlining Ethics Review of Multi-Centre Research Involving Humans in time Sensitive Public Health Events

Dear Members of the CAREB List-Serve:

Attached is some information related to an important initiative that is aimed at implementing a collaborative kind of review process for studies that involve public health events (e.g. H1N1 and other similar events). We hope that most of the REBs in Canada will be willing to participate in this project, and hence are sending this information to you.

It will be followed up by some additional information including a detailed SOP and a request to those of you who feel that your REBs may be affected, to pre-register on the secure web-site so that communications can be effected quickly and efficiently. Many of you are already aware of this project, and many, many of you have participated in its development in a number of different capacities.

Thanks to all of you for your past assistance and for your anticipated future participation. Please take the time to review the attached, or visit the CAREB web-site, where they will be posted. Your comments and suggestions would be most welcome, as would any enquiries that you might have. Please direct your enquiries to the PHAC facilitation team at the e-mail which is contained in the cover letter.
