Survey of REB Structures and Processes Across Canada

Dear Colleagues:

The University of Alberta is in the process of re-organizing its Research Ethics Boards. To assist us with that task, we are seeking information from our colleagues across Canada about the number of REBs at your institutions, as well as some details about the your REB review processes.

We intend to share our results with other institutions. We have found that there is very little data available about some details of REB review, and think it might be useful to everyone to have an idea of the range of practices at Universities and Research Institutions across Canada.

Attached to this email is a URL that will take you to a Survey Monkey survey. There is a more detailed explanation of our objectives at the beginning of the survey. We would be very grateful to you if you would take the time to complete the survey (which should take 15 – 20 minutes depending how much you write in response to some open ended questions).

If you think someone else would be more appropriate to respond on behalf of your institution, please forward this message to that person.

If you have any specific questions about this process, please contact Dr. Wendy Rodgers (wendy.rodgers@ualberta.ca) at the University of Alberta, or Susan Babcock (susan.babcock@ualberta.ca), Administrative Director, Research Ethics Office.

If you would like to receive a report of our findings, please indicate that to Wendy or Susan (emails directly above).

Thank you for your consideration.
